Collagen is the main protein in the body's connective tissue and represents nearly 30% of total human protein content. The body forms collagen from specific amino acids and peptides into collagen helix structures. These build stable fibres; they are structural proteins that give our different body parts their strength and structures. 

Collagen is found everywhere in the human body: in our bones, joints, tendons, ligaments and skin, as well as in smooth muscle tissue, blood vessels and other organs. It is even a major component of our hair and nails. Different types of collagen are found in different parts of the body. Type 1 collagen is most common. 

The collagen peptane used in our NatuGena product is a natural, highly pure, bioactive product with a protein content of over 97% (on a dry weight basis).  As a type 1 collagen, peptane is identical to the collagen found in human bone and skin. Peptane contains 18 amino acids, the building blocks of our tissues and the main component of proteins. Glycine, proline and hydroxyproline represent about 50% of the total amino acid content of peptane (the glycine and proline concentration in peptane is 10 to 20 times higher than in other proteins).

Native collagen consists of one large triple helix molecule. The much smaller and easily digestible peptane collagen peptides are produced by carefully controlled enzymatic hydrolysis (molecule weight of 2000Da). Peptane collagen peptides are optimised for high bioavailability and bioactivity. Thus, they quickly reach the body tissues where they are needed most. Due to the enzymatic preparation, the collagen peptides present in the blood can actually reach the connective tissue. Thus 90% of the peptane collagen peptides are available in the connective tissue only a few hours after digestion. 

The formula is optimised by combining it with hyaluronic acid, elastin and vitamin C from the camu camu.  Hyaluron or hyaluronic acid is a liquid, gel-like compound of N-acetyl, D-glucosamine and D-glucuronic acid, which is also produced by our body itself. Pure hyaluronic acid is considered an important component of connective tissue as well as cartilage and joint fluid.

The product contributes to normal collagen formation for normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth through vitamin C.
